157 New Emoji Coming this Year

February 08, 2018

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 08-02-2018

Unicode Consortium Group has announced it will be including 157 new emoji’s that manufacturers and software makers like Apple, Google and Microsoft will be able to implement later this year.

The 157 new emoji are part of an updated version of Unicode, which everything from operating systems to websites use to display letters and characters.

Emoji 11.0 will include several new hairstyles and types, including male and female faces with red hair, curly hair, grey hair at a younger age, and no hair or baldness, along with hot and cold faces, a kangaroo and woozy and pleading faces.

The new emoji also includes superheroes and supervillains which are virtually identical, except the supervillain’s clothes are darker, their hair is mussed, and their eyes are more sly.

The most significant new influx comes in thing emoji which includes new hobbies, knitting, lacrosse, Frisbee, compass, and skateboard. You also get a chess piece, a puzzle piece, a detailed receipt (which, if you look closely, has a rather baffling entry for an iDingus for $160), and a toolbox.

According to the Consortium, new emoji typically start showing up on phones in August or September.
