DA Raises Concerns Over Kidney Dialysis at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital

January 24, 2018

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 24-01-2018

The Democratic Alliance (DA) says the Charlotte Maxeke Hospital in Johannesburg is running out purified water for Life-saving dialysis for kidney patients.

The opposition party says it visited the hospital after receiving a number complaints and was told that ordinary tap water was being used for patients requiring emergency dialysis.

DA shadow Health MEC Jack Bloom says some adult kidney patients are being sent to Helen Joseph Hospital for dialysis while others are put on dialysis for three hours instead of the usual four hours.

“Patients have been told that the shortage arose last week because of a broken dialysis water tank. This is a distressing situation that will put lives at risk if it carries on much longer.
