Several elderly citizens have been assaulted and robbed of their valuables at an old age home in Lenasia.
It’s understood a group of about 9 suspects entered the Nirvana Haven old age home in the early hours of Friday morning, assaulted and tied up the security guard before raiding several homes in the complex.
There were no reports of any injuries, however some elderly citizens have been left traumatized by the brazen robbery.
The police’s Molefe Mokoena say they are searching for the suspects and have appealed to anyone with information about the robbery to come forward.
“There was an armed robbery at Nirvana Old Age Home in Lenasia. According to the security, nine guys came in, they went to several houses. They robbed owners of their valuable articles. Several shots were shot, nobody was hurt. At this stage we are investigating a case of house robbery.”
Mokoena says no arrests have been made.
