Police Minister Fikile Mbalula says any decision to recall President Jacob Zuma will be a decision of the new national executive committee (NEC) as the center of power.
Mbalula was addressing the media on Wednesday, the final day of the ANC’s 54th national conference at Nasrec in Johannesburg on the Organizational Renewal Commission Report.
One of the decisions taken at the ANC conference was to have the NEC manage the two centers of power with President Jacob Zuma in the Union Buildings and Cyril Ramaphosa at Luthuli House.
Mbalula says the center of power rests with the ANC and it’s the party that takes decisions and gives direction to its deployees in government.
“The resolution talks about management of two centers of power. It doesn’t automatically mean a recall. The NEC will take decision to recall the president, not officials. If the new NEC decides to recall President Jacob Zuma, it has the right. The NEC is the centre of power.”
Mbalula says the NEC must manage the two centers of power after national conference.
