Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 19-12-2017

Newly elected African National Congress (ANC) President Cyril says the 54th national conference of the party is going very well despite a number of issues that have been raised.

Ramaphosa together with new Treasurer General Paul Mashatile, have been on a walkabout in Nasrec on Tuesday.

They were visiting the Progressive Business Forum (PBF) where some vendors were showcasing new technologies that they want to spread throughout the country.

Ramaphosa says many doomsayer’s predictions that the conference would collapse and that it would not proceed have been quashed.

He says the party has proven that in its 105-year history of existence, it is able to rise even above its own strengths.

“And here we were able to demonstrates that the ANC family, this great organisation of our people wants to emerge united renewed and stronger than it was when we came to conference.”

Ramaphosa says the top six are humbled by the opportunity to serve the organizations more then one million members.

“We will serve our people with great distinction, with humility and we will keep to the task we’ve been given.”

Ramaphosa also thanked members of the press saying through the media, the ANC is able to translate the issues of transparency and openness of the conference, which is a key hallmark of the party.
