Bizos Appeals to South Africans to Accept Outcome if ANC Loses 2019 Elections

November 16, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 16-11-2017

Liberation lawyer George Bizos says he doesn’t believe the ANC will win the 2019 elections and has appealed to South Africans to accept the outcome whatever it may be.

The anti-Apartheid icon who celebrates his 90th birthday today was speaking to EWN about his career as a lawyer and being part of team that founded South Africa’s constitution.

Bizos played a major role in SA’s democracy legally representing political activists including Nelson Mandela, Govan Mbeki & Walter Sisulu.

Bizos who still works as a human rights lawyer with the legal resources centre recently succeeded in the Ahmed Timol case and says he plans on taking up 60 more cases of anti-apartheid activists whose killings were labelled as suicide.

Bizos told the news organisation that while the ANC has brought positive change to the country, it is currently failing the people.

“I believe that the ANC may not get an overall majority. What I am hoping is that their love for the country will overpower possible wishes. There will be a government of more than one party.” (sic)
