Police are searching for six armed suspects after they shot and killed a 49-year-old woman in Rustenburg in the North West.
It’s understood Zaheida Latif and her driver were transporting cash to a SBV facility in the Rustenburg CBD on Monday when they were accosted and hijacked by the suspects who opened fire.
The suspects then fled the scene taking Latief with them prompting the police to launch a massive manhunt for the victim.
Police say Latief’s co-worker also fled the scene.
Spokesperson Elsabe Augoustides says after an intensive search they found the car abandoned about 5km in an open field.
“About 500 meters in the bushes, there between the trees they spotted the vehicle. Unfortunately on arrival it was found that the lady was shot and that she had passed away. The suspects fled with the money and at this stage nobody has been arrested. Police are working on various leads.”
Augiustides says police are investigating a case of kidnapping and murder and appealing to anyone with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to come forward.
