The South African Hajj and Umrah Council (SAHUC) has elected new office bearers and board members for the next two years.

This change has come about following a successful Annual General Meeting that took place on Sunday.

Moulana Mohamed Vaid has been elected President of SAHUC while Shaheen Essop takes up the position of first deputy president and Hafez Ismail Kholvadia who was the previous head of missions becomes the second deputy president.

The position of Secretary General will be held by Moaaz Casoo with Hassen Choonara as his deputy.

Asif Essop has been elected as treasurer of SAHUC and Mohammad Maiter his deputy.

Shaheen Essop says they welcome the new changes.

“The new office bearers were elected by the member organizations present at the annual general meeting of SAHUC. Alhamdulillah, the new executives and the members of the board will endeavor to serve the hujjaj to the highest possible level in the their term for the next two years.”

Essop says he and Choonara were re-elected by members to ensure continuity and providing the necessary support to the new incumbents at Sahuc.
