Gauteng MEC for Community Safety, Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane has welcomed the arrest of three security officers following Cosmo City’s Shoprite U Save assault incident.
Thandi Chaparadzo was handcuffed, assaulted by security personnel in full view of her three year old daughter on Saturday.
Nkosi-Malobane has ordered Shoprite Security management to hand over the security officers within 24 hours after her visit to the area on Sunday.
The three security officers were handed over to South African Police Service yesterday and are facing assault charges with intention to do grievous bodily harm and sexual harassment.
Nkosi-Malobane says the arrests of the security officers will send a strong message that there is no room for gender based in Gauteng.
“I welcome the arrest of the three security officers following the shocking assault incident. I am confident that with the evidence at police’s disposal, they will present a water-tight case to ensure that these suspects receive the highest possible terms behind bars.”
