A South African contestant in the 39th King Abdul Aziz International Qur’an Memorization finals in Saudi Arabia has qualified in the preliminaries to progress to the finals to be hosted inside the Haram in Makkah.
Hafez Yusuf Loonat departed for Saudi Arabia on Monday to take part in the competition
He won the Gauteng regional stages of the South African National Quran Competition (SANQC) which took place in Roshnee and went onto take first place at the national competition at the Nizamiye Masjid in Midrand.
SANQC’s Qari Basheer Patel says the finals begins on Sunday.
“Hafez Yusuf Loonat from South Africa has made to through to the final round in the Haram Insha’Allah. We know that you have to make a minimum of 90% in the preliminary round and Alhamdulillah that’s what he has done. We all make dua that Allah grant him success Insha’Allah and he makes us all proud.”
