ANC Bid of No Confidence Motions in Mashaba & Da Gama Struck of Roll

September 26, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 26-09-2017

The ANC’s application in the motion of no confidence in Johannesburg mayor Herman Mashaba and Speaker Vasco da Gama has been struck off the roll for lack of urgency.

South Gauteng High Court Judge Sidwell Shangisa also ordered the ANC to pay the legal costs of both Mashaba and Da Gama.

The ANC has since vowed to approach the Constitutional Court on an urgent basis.

The party approached the court after Da Gama rejected its calls for the motion of no confidence against himself and Mashaba to be held via a secret ballot.

The DA had argued that council rules don’t allow for a secret ballot.
