Shiraaz Mohamed Still Missing in Syria, Nine Months after Being Abducted

September 18, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 18-09-2017

Social cohesion activist Yusuf Abramjee says it is deeply concerning that the whereabouts of Lenasia South photojournalist Shiraaz Mohamed remains unknown nine months after he was kidnapped in Syria.

Mohamed was abducted near the border with Turkey in January as he was returning home after accompanying the Gift of the Givers on a humanitarian mission.

No group has claimed responsibility for his kidnapping nor has a ransom been demanded.

Abramjee says South Africans and world wants answers about what happened to Mohamed.

“There’s been absolutely no news from either Gift of the Givers that took him into Syria as well as South Africa’s department of International Relations. The family and the public needs answers.”

Abramjee has urged South Africans to continue to pray for Mohamed’s safe return back to South Africa and his family.
