Motorists Urged to Avoid Golden Highway as Protesters Block Road

September 14, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 14-09-2017

Motorists have been advised to use alternate routes in Lenasia South and surround areas  due to protest action.

Its understood residents have blocked the Golden Highway road with rocks and burning tyres this morning.

The reason for the protest is not clear at this stage.

The JMPD’s Wayne Minnaar says the road is not safe for motorists.

“There are currently rocks on the road on Golden Highway between Wimbledon and Provincial Road and this is affecting the traffic flow. Motorists travelling from Orange Farm, Ennerdale, Lenasia South and surrounding areas are advised to use the N1, the Old Lawley Road or K43 as alternative routes.”
