Qurtuba Islamic Academy says the visit by Radio Islam International to the school enhanced a hajj simulation programme it enacted for its pupils.
As part of our hajj focus, Radio Islam’s Moulana Naeem Docrat, Apa Faheema Patel, and Faizel Patel visited the Islamic school today to engage with learners, seeking to explore what Hajj means to them.
The initiative also includes an art competition for pupils to create models, drawings and paintings depicting the symbols of hajj.
Principal of Qurtuba, Sister Hasina Moola says the pupils were enthralled by the hajj simulation which complimented the visit by Radio Islam.
“Radio Islam’s initiative with the grace of Allah (SWT) fitted in well with the timing. The entire programme revolved around the 5 days and what the hajj actually does for those 5 days in the starting off with the Ihram, making the tawaaf, going to Minah, Arafah and Muzdalifah.”
Sister Moola says pupils will always reflect on initiatives they were involved in, especially hajj.
“I must thank Radio Islam for taking time and giving our learners the opportunity to engage in something creative just for them to be more focused. I suppose it will be always left in their minds that for this time of the year this is what I did and this is what our school did and this is how the presenters came and reinforced it with us and encouraged us.”
The winners of the art competition will be announced on Thursday Insha’Allah
