Gauteng Community Safety MEC Sizakele Nkosi-Malobane says she’s deeply shocked following the disappearance of a Pretoria businessman.
Omar Carrim left his business Home Hyper City just after 5pm last week and hasn’t been seen since.
Carrim’s burnt Mercedes C300 was found near the R511 outside Atteridgeville on Friday.
Nkosi-Malobane says despite various safety interventions in place, Gauteng continues to experience a growing number of missing persons.
“I call upon the citizens of Gauteng to resist the temptation of sending misleading information which can jeopardize the case at hand. I am confident that police will work around the clock to ensure that the culprits are arrested and justice applied accordingly.”
Family spokesperson Yusuf Abramjee says the motive for Carrim’s disappearance is still unclear.
“Clearly it wasn’t hijacking, otherwise they would have just taken the vehicle.”
Carrim’s family has thanked the public for all the support and have urged them continue praying for the businessman’s safe return.
