Remedies and uses of cinnamon

You probably have some cinnamon powder or sticks in your kitchen cupboard. It's a warming, stimulating, pleasant-tasting herb with many uses. innamon is widely used as a flavoring agent for candy, toothpaste, mouthwashes, and bath and body products. In herbal teas, cinnamon improves the flavor of less palatable herbs. And, of course, it is a staple for baking and cooking. ut cinnamon has strong herbal remedy uses as well. In addition to having a germicidal effect, cinnamon helps improve circulation and relieve discomfort or issues in the abdomen. Cinnamon is more than just an everyday spice! Stick cinnamon is very inexpensive and can be found in most supermarket international sections. Cinnamon is most commonly used as a spice to flavor foods. It is used in chocolate, desserts, apple pies, cinnamon buns, and Indian curries. The spice can be sweet as well as "hot" and spicy in hard cinnamon candy. "True cinnamon" comes from Sri Lanka, but all varieties can be used for different purposes

• Place a dash of cinnamon in a pot of brewing coffee. It will remove the bitterness of the coffee.

• Break up a cinnamon stick. Place the pieces in a pan and bring them to a boil. The cinnamon scent will serve as an air freshener. When the liquid from the boiled stick cools down, use it as a mouth freshener. Cinnamon is a natural antiseptic.
 
 
• Brew tea with a stick of cinnamon. Cinnamon has compounds that naturally neutralize gas and aid in food digestion.
 
• Place a stick of cinnamon in a vacuum cleaner's bag. The cinnamon can reduce the musty smells that can come from a vacuum bag.

•    Toss a stick of cinnamon in with your cornmeal and flour containers. Cinnamon has a compound that can act as a natural insect repellent.

Benefits of Cinnamon
Cinnamon has extremely high anti-oxidant activity, and the oil of cinnamon has strong anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Cinnamon is also a great source of manganese, fiber, iron, and calcium. As a result, it has been used as an effective home remedy for:

•    Reducing blood sugar levels and treating Type 2 Diabetes.
•    Lowering cholesterol.
•    Aiding digestion.
•    Treating diarrhea.
•    Curing the common cold.
•    Reducing arthritis pain.
•    Boosting memory and cognitive function.
•    Treating toothaches.
•    Eliminating bad breath.
•    Curing headaches and migraine pain.

Home Remedy for Arthritis
Cinnamon has recently been shown to act as a natural remedy for Arthritis pain. Recent studies have shown that Cinnamon is a remarkable natural treatment for arthritis pain. Simply add half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder to one tablespoon of honey every morning before breakfast. Repeat this daily for one month. Results should be noticeable within the first week.

Home Remedy for Diabetes
Research suggests that cinnamon may help treat Type 2 Diabetes by lowering blood sugar levels and increasing the amount of insulin production in the body. Research has shown that small doses of Cinnamon can be beneficial in treating Type 2 Diabetes, since it can reduce blood sugar levels while simultaneously increasing the body's natural production of insulin.

•    Take half a teaspoon of Cinnamon powder each morning.
•    Repeat this for 40 days.
The Cinnamon powder can be consumed in a number of ways:
•    Sprinkle cinnamon into your coffee.
•    Add a cinnamon stick to your favorite herbal tea.
•    Mix cinnamon powder into unsweetened applesauce.
•    Add cinnamon powder to your cereal or oatmeal.

NOTE: If you are taking medication to control blood sugar levels, any regular consumption of cinnamon should only be taken after consulting with your doctor

Home Remedy for Reducing Cholesterol
Recent studies have shown that consuming small amounts of cinnamon can help reduce LDL cholesterol (the bad one). Simply eat half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder daily. The cinnamon can be added as a mild sweetener to coffee or tea.

Cinnamon is another wonderful ingredient that is known to help lower LDL cholesterol. Usually half a teaspoon per day will usually be sufficient. It makes a nice light sweetener for coffee or tea, or you can sprinkle it onto your cereal each morning.
