There is outrage after comments were posted on social media telling Muslims to go ‘bomb themselves’ and asks ‘why they kill innocent children’.
A businessman from Pretoria posted the comments on Facebook which has gone viral on various social media platforms.
In the post Gavin Naicker from Naickers Curry Den writes: “I can understand you are circumcised and cant get children but f*$% you K*$#@. Pls come try me I haven’t used bullets in a long time.”
The post continues to denigrate Muslims and ends with they are ‘brainless mother f*$%#rs.
Attempts to contact Naicker proved unsuccessful at the time of publishing.
Earlier this year the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) held a hearing on racism and social media.
The commission said it was deeply concerned about the growing number of complaints about racism, specifically on social media.
Panelist which included former Constitutional Court Judge Albie Sachs & commissioners Angie Makwetla & Bongani Majola agreed while that the advancement of technology is a positive, it can also be used to discriminate and spread hate speech.
The commission said during the 2015/2016 period it received 505 race-related complaints.
