May 22, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 22-05-2017

A man and a woman who are suspected of being involved in a hijacking syndicate have been arrested in Lenasia following a multi-disciplinary operation consisting of police and other crime intelligence units.

The pair were arrested yesterday at a home in Lenasia.

They were in possession of R750 000 cash, a police radio, two illegal firearms and nine hi-jacked vehicles including an Audi RS7, a Mercedes Benz C Class ,a Toyota Fortuner, a Ford Ranger, a Hyundai H1, a Porche 911 and a Toyota Hi-Lux van.

During the operation another 4 suspects were also arrested when they found a stolen luxury vehicle in Middleburg two weeks ago.

The police’s Vishnu Naidoo says the suspects will be appearing before the Lenasia Magistates Court today.

“These vehicles were reported to have been hijacked in and around Johannesburg and Pretoria area. Also if you look at the number of people that we suspect may have been involved, I think that for now it’s sufficient to suggest that they’re part of a syndicate.”
