With the dawn of the Islamic month of Sha’baan and 28 days left for the blessed of Ramadan, Secretary General of the Jamiatul Ulama South Africa Moulana Ebrahim Bham says Shab’aan is a very auspicious time in the Muslim calendar.
The month of Sha’baan kicked off yesterday after widespread sightings of the moon across the country.
Sha’baan has a very special place in the Islamic Calendar because in this month lies a very auspicious night known as Layaltul- Baraa’ah (The Night of Emancipation; The night of Freedom from fire).
On this night Allah’s Special Mercy and Forgiveness descends upon His fortunate servants from the commencement of the night, Maghrib (Sunset) until dawn.
Moulana Bham says many people should reap the rewards that the bless month of Sha’baan has to offer.
“Nabi SAW said: ‘there is a month which is prior to Ramadan. Many people are neglectful with regard to this month, but it is a month in which our deeds are presented before Almighty Allah and Nabi e Kareem SAW has told us to bear the sanctity of this month in mind because its also a prelude to the month of Ramadan.’”
The word Sha’baan means branches of good a’maal (deeds).
