Radio Islam Scoops Two Awards at Liberty Radio Awards

April 24, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 22-04-2017

Radio Islam has scooped two accolades at the Liberty Radio Awards after being nominated in seven categories including radio station of the year.

The ceremony was held at the Sandon Convention Centre in Sandton on Saturday.

Formally known as the MTN Radio Awards, the competition recognizes the very best of South Africa’s on-air and behind the scenes radio talent.

“Your World Today” was awarded the best afternoon drive programme while the award for best late night time show in the community category was awarded to the motoring segment Rev it Up.

Award winning former SABC journalist Hesley Harmse says Radio Islam is one the leading community radio stations in the country and was the talk of the awards.

“It was obvious that Radio Islam is one of the leading community stations is this country. What I noticed is that many times their name was up there on the board and so many people came to me after the awards and said to me: ‘who is this station, who is Radio Islam, this is magnificent and they should keep it up.’”
