Moosa Family Furious After Charges Dropped Against Alleged Kidnappers

April 21, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 21-04-2017

The family of Anisah Moosa say they are disappointed after the case against three men allegedly part of a kidnapping syndicate was provisionally withdrawn.

Anisah Moosa was allegedly abducted outside her uncle’s home in Nirvana in March 2016 by Masilo Kgafane, Samuel Kobo and Benny Mudau who forced her into the back of her vehicle and made a series of ransom demands to her family.

The suspects were released on bail despite a week long protest outside the Polokwane Magistrates Court shortly after being arrested.

The gang is allegedly responsible for a spate of crimes and are also facing charges of attempted murder after three police officers were shot and wounded during a sting operation in which Anisah was freed.

Moosa Family spokesman, Yusuf Abramjee, says a Mankweng Magistrate decided to withdraw the abduction case against the three men because of on-going delays.

“We’ve asked the family attorney to write a letter to the minister of justice, minister of police and national director of public prosecutions and we hope they will bring the case back on to the roll. The delays are far too long, the system works far too slow and I think they’re doing an injustice to the victims of crime.”
