Residents of Lenasia and surrounds have been urged to assist in the clean-up of Avalon Cemetery which is expected to take place this weekend.
Organisers of the clean-up will be meeting at the Engen Garage on Nirvana Drive on Sunday at 07h30 and thereafter proceed to the cemetery where the clean-up will begin promptly at 8 o’clock.
According to Yusuf Bulbulia Advisory Services (YAB) most of the overgrown grass at the cemetery has been cut by City Parks while other areas are expected to be trimmed today.
In a statement YAB says that although grass will be cut, it’s the graves of the Marhoomeen that have sunken in and needs to be filled.
“Sand has been sponsored by some generous sponsors to fill and close Qabrs. Please come with spades, wheelbarrows and steel rakes and garbage bags to throw dirt in. Let us be Active Citizens and make the difference. Remember it’s our loved ones that are buried there.”
