Polokwane Kidnapping Suspects Go on Crime Spree After Being Granted Bail

February 08, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 08-02-2017

Police say suspects linked to the kidnapping of a Polokwane woman went on a crime spree after being granted bail.

Anisah Moosa was abducted outside her uncle’s home in Nirvana by three men who forced her into the back of her vehicle and made a series of ransom demands to her family.

Moosa was freed by police after a shootout with the suspects.

Three Task Force members were shot and seriously injured while trying to rescue Moosa.

Two of the suspects were arrested in Limpopo a few days later and one in Pretoria.

Moosa family spokesman, Yusuf Abramjee, says the men should not have been granted bail in the first place and has called on the courts be more strict when granting bail to criminals.

“Despite the State having opposed bail for the kidnapping last year and public outcry including protests, the three men were released.”

The police’s Matimba Meluleke says the suspects went on a crime spree after being released on bail.

“They were committing crimes such as murder, attempted murder, attempted cash-in-transit and kidnapping among other crimes.”

Moosa’s family say they hope the suspects linked to her abduction are denied bail when they re-appear in court later this month.
