Police Investigate After Bodies Stolen from Nelspruit Qabrastan

January 06, 2017

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 06-01-2017

The Nelspruit Muslim Burial Services say they will be hiring a security guard after the remains of two bodies were stolen from their graves at the old Nelspruit Qabrastan (Cemetery).

It’s understood a group of people visited the qabrastan this morning and found two graves that had been dug open with the burial garb (kaffan) in the grave still intact and the remains missing.

The bodies were buried in the 1960’s and 2013.

Imam of the local masjid in Nelspruit, Moulana Yusuf Cajee says police are investigating the incident.

“The police came to know about it, the police are in, they cordoned it off as a crime scene so nobody is allowed to go to the qabrastan until the investigations are done.”

Moulana Cajee says that two weeks ago the plants and flowers were also stolen.
