Planned Reservoir Shutdown to Affect Residents of Lenasia & Surrounds

November 03, 2016

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 03-11-2016

Joburg Water says it will be shutting down the water supply at the Lenasia Hospital Hill and Cosmo Reservoirs in order gain the supply to Lenasia High Level Reservoir.

Extreme weather temperatures has caused a spike in water consumption which has seen the Lenasia high reservoir being strained for supply affecting Lehae, Zakariyya Park and Vlakfontein which has been without water for almost two days.

Regional Director for Region G Mickey Padiachee says people should make contingency plans for the interruption.

“The cutoff will be taking place from this evening 8pm to 8am tomorrow. Lenasia will also further experience low pressure on Friday morning from 8am.”

Padiachee says while Orange Farm and Ennerdale will not be affected by the cutoff the water consumption in these areas is still critically high.
