Khadija Patel Appointed Editor in Chief of Mail & Guardian

October 20, 2016

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 20-10-2016

Renowned journalist Khadija Patel has been appointed as the new Editor in Chief of the Mail & Guardian and its online platforms.

Patel was appointed today in a new partnership between the Daily Vox news platform and the Mail & Guardian weekly newspaper.

Patel was recently recognized as one of 25 individuals who are reshaping influence and engagement in an era of dramatic marketing and communications disruption in the media and communications industry.

Patel told Radio Islam she is excited about the challenges that lay ahead.

“I am truly humbled by the opportunity and very grateful as well for my bosses at the Mail & Guardian who have shown faith in me and also for the outpouring of support from my colleagues within the Mail & Guardian but also elsewhere in the industry.”

Patel says she hopes to bring her vast experience and scarce resources of running a startup to the Mail and Guardian.

“As we traverse these interesting times in our country, I hope that I am able to bring that experience to tell a very important story of our democracy going forward.”

Patel has requested that listeners of Radio Islam make dua for her success and prosperity and that she may grasp the aspects of editor as quickly as possible.

Patel takes up her new position from the 1st of November 2016.
