Lenmed Replaces Toilet Jugs & Trains Staff Following Urine Controversy

October 13, 2016

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 13-10-2016

The Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital (Lenmed) in Lenasia says it has replaced all jugs throughout the facility with proper instinja (toilet) jugs and will also provide training for non-Muslim staff on the use of the utensils.

Reports emerged on social media last week that the jugs in the toilets were allegedly being used by nurses to empty out catheter bags of patients at the hospital.

Ahmed Kathrada Hospitals Dr. Ahmed Farouk Kaka said: “We have resolved the issue by replacing all the existing jugs with istinja bottles and the staff have been re-educated on the issue, majority of whom being non-Muslims and therefore unaware of the Islamic rulings of Fiqh.”
