Lenmed Investigating Alleged Use of Toilet Jugs for Urine

October 09, 2016

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 09-10-2016

The Ahmed Kathrada Private Hospital (Lenmed) in Lenasia has told Radio Islam it’s investigating the circumstances surrounding the use of istinja jugs (toilet jugs) to fill urine.

Reports have emerged on social media that the jugs were allegedly used by nurses to empty out catheter bags of patients at the hospital.

A representative of the Ahmed Kathrada hospital says the facility observes strict protocols.

“We have strict policies in place regarding the use of istinja jugs and how they should be managed because we are aware of the cultural and religious requirements. We will investigate the matter and we will retrieve all jugs immediately and replace them.”
