A group of children were treated to a special day of fun and activities at Poseidon Park in Ennerdale, south of Johannesburg.
The Annual Muharram Madrasah Kids Fun Day hosted by the Muslim Women of Wonder Foundation on Sunday was supported by a number of organizations, including JMPD, Joburg Emergency Services and Radio Islam amongst others.
Radio Islam’s Faheema Patel says the aim of the event is to unite madrassahs with the intention for them to learn through play.
“The Muharram Fun Day to a child meant that they had fun, it was enjoyable, the kids were surprised, a cupcake and a party pack brought a smile to a child’s face. The dog demonstration was the highlight keeping the kids in awe and the kids learned some road safety tips and not to talk to strangers from JMPD.”
The event was culminated by a nasheed competition with the winning Madrasah, EMA from Ext 5 walking away with a floating trophy.
