Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 23-09-2016

One neighbourhood watch member and three suspects have been killed following a shootout in Lenasia, south of Johannesburg.

One other community member was also injured and taken to hospital where he is in a stable condition.

It’s understood four suspects broke into the Condor Avenue home this afternoon and locked the domestic workers and gardener in the bathroom.

Police say the suspects noticed the owner of the house and his brother and shot at them while trying to flee alerting the local neighbourhood watch.

The police’s Mavela Masondo says the fourth suspect was taken to hospital under police guard after he was allegedly assaulted by community members and the neighborhood watch.

“One of the neighbourhood watch when he arrive at the scene, he was also shot at. Unfortunately he died on the scene. The other neighbourhood watch members were also around. There was a shootout between the neighbourhood watch and the suspects. Three of the suspects were shot at and they passed away.”

Masondo says they are investigating a case of armed robbery, murder and attempted murder.
