The Ummah Loses Another Gem – Marhoom Hazrath Moulana Mahmood Madani Desai (RA)

August 29, 2016

Mohamed Ameen Dabhelia – 2016-08-29

Islamic Scholar Moulana Muhammad Vanker has described Marhoom Hazrath Moulana Mahmood Madani Desai (RA) as a humble man who never raised his voice to the students he was teaching.

Hazrath Moulana Desai (RA) born in the blessed city of Madinah, passed away at the age of sixty three in Kwazulu Natal.

Originally from Richmond in KZN, Hazrath Moulana Desai (RA) was the principle of Darul Uloom Inaamiyah Camperdown.

Moulana Vanker says Hazrath Moulana Desai (RA) had a very close attachment to the students he taught and guided.

“He was more like a father to me, and I spiritually benefitted immensely from him, the advises, naseeha, he used to give me an render to other students was something that was unparallel that I’ve never seen in other individuals.”

Radio Islam’s Ml Sulaimaan Ravat explains how Hazrath Moulana Desai (RA) received the title of ‘Madani’.

“His name was Ml Mahmood Desai (RA), after his parents went for Hajj in 1953 – and due to the lengthy journey of hajj those years, his mother gave birth to him in Madinah Munawwarah – which explains the title of Madani.”

Hazrath Moulana  Desai (RA) started his Hifz and Maktab by Moulana Yusuf Umar Wadee and also learnt the Qur’aan under the guidance of his mother.

He then went to Mia’s farm where he completed and graduated as Huffaaz of the Holy Qur’aan under the auspices of Hazrat Ml Abdurahmaan Mia (RA).

After graduating as an Aalim in Faisalabad in India, Hazrath Moulana Desai (RA) took part in Da’wah and Tabligh in the path of Allah SWT; he then came back to South Africa in 1976.

Moulana Vanker says it was only because of Hazrath Moulana Desai (RA) that he enrolled at the Darul Uloom in Camperdown.

“Ml was instrumental in me becoming a Haafiz and furthering my studies, I was going to study at Taleemu-Deen in Isipingo, but due to the family ties we had with Hazrath Moulana, he requested that I study in Camperdown.”

May Allah Ta’aala grant Hazrath Moulana Mahmood Madani Desai Rahimahullah the highest stages in Jannah Insha’Allah.
