SA Air Link says it can confirm that a hijack alert for flight SA8678 was an anomaly.
Reports emerged that the plane hijacked while flying from Cape Town to Wonderboom Airport today.
In a statement the SA Airlink says the false alert was picked by air traffic control by one of its aircraft’s transponders and the police special task team were activated.
“Airlink can confirm that no hijacking has taken place. All 72 passengers and 4 crew members are safe on the ground. Operations are normal.”
