Polokwane Womans Kidnapping Not Linked to Her Job at SARS

March 18, 2016

Faizel Patel, 2016-03-18

The family of a 36-year-old Polokwane woman say her abduction had nothing to do with her being employed at the South African Revenue Services (SARS).

Anisah Moosa was abducted from her home in Nirvana in Polokwane this week after three gunmen forced her into the back of their vehicle and drove off. The family received ransom demands from the kidnappers for her safe return.

She was this morning reunited with her family following an extensive investigation by the South African Police Service (SAPS).

Three police officers were injured when the suspects opened fire during the ransom exchange after they became aware of the presence of authorities at the meeting.

Family spokesperson Yusuf Abramjee says the Moosa family is relieved Anisah has been found.

“We are most grateful to the police for the sterling work and the family is very appreciative. We thank all the officers who worked tirelessly around the clock to resolve the case.” The Moosa family have also thanked the public for all the support and prayers.”

Abramjee says the family has also thanked SARS for their support.

“The family is convinced that this incident is not linked to Anisah’s duties at the South African Revenue Services.”

A manhunt to locate the suspects has been launched and the injured officers are currently receiving treatment at a hospital in Polokwane.
