Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News, 2015-12-03

Three people have died and a child injured after they were attacked by a hippopotamus in Limpopo.

It’s understood the group were attempting to cross the Limpopo River at Beit Bridge last night when they were attacked by the hippo.

The police’s Ronel Otto said: “A child who survived the attack alerted passers-by this morning who then contacted the police. On the scene we found three people who were killed in the attack. Two adult males and a small boy who is estimated to be between 7 and 9-years-old.  The injured child was taken to hospital for treatment.”

Otto says the identities of the deceased are not yet known and police have opened an inquest docket.
