October 24, 2015

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News, 2015-10-24

At least 120 people were injured after commuters climbed off a moving train at Ennerdale Station, South of Johannesburg.

Its understood the commuters on board were injured as they tried disembarking the train on Friday night after it failed to stop.

Netcare 911’s Chris Botha says: “Paramedics arrived and found the train did not crash or derail at all. The brakes on the train for some reason came on the brink. Some people apparently jumped from the train in a panic.”

He says some of the commuters sustained serious injuries and were rushed to nearby hospitals for further treatment.

Botha says the exact cause of the incident is being investigated.
