During Hajj, they came to him asking, O Prophet of Allah (Peace be upon him) a Sahabi has passed on after falling of his camel what should we do? He replied “Wash him with water and lotus flowers and shroud him in his two garments and do not cover his head for on the day of Resurrection, he will be raised reciting the Talbiyah”. (Bukhari and Muslim)
Over 700 pilgrims on Thursday lost their lives in what is said to be one of the deadliest stampedes in the past 25 years of Hajj. More than 800 other pilgrims have been injured. Reports suggest that more casualties could be on the rise as the authorities continue to assess the situation.
Fortunate are these individuals, who have lost their lives whilst completing the rituals of Hajj. The Prophet of Allah (Peace be upon him) has said you will rise on the day of Resurrection in the state you have passed away.
Death is inevitable; it’s a reality that has to come to pass. It is the pinnacle of a believer’s life for in the words of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) death is a gift of a believer. Death connects the lover to his beloved.
How fortunate are these souls that will meet Allah, their creator in the blessed state of Ihram chanting the words of Talbiyah.
The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said: whosoever passes away in any of the Harams he will be safe on the day of Qiyamah. (Tabrani) and in another narration he has been quoted to have said, “He will receive my intercession on the day of Qiayamah. (Tabrani)
Indeed, they have passed away in the holiest of lands Makkatul Mukarramah in the sacred month of Zul Hijjah.
May the Almighty Allah grant them all the highest stages of Jannah Ameen.
