One suspect has been shot dead and another is on the run after they tried robbing two cash in transit guards at the Oriental Plaza in Fordsburg early this morning.
The police’s Lungelo Dlamini says the two guards went to collect money at the First National Bank (FNB) when they were confronted by two suspects as they were leaving the bank.
“There was a shootout between them. One suspect was shot dead and a guard was shot and wounded and was taken to hospital.”
“They recovered a pistol from the deceased. The second suspect managed to escape,” Dlamini said.
Dlamini says no money was taken and nobody else was injured during the shootout.
Police have lauched a manhunt for the suspect.
