Shootout between Police & Hijackers in Lenasia

Police have arrested one suspect and wounded another after a shootout in Lenasia this afternoon.

A third suspect remains on the run.

The police’s Mack Mngomezulu says the suspects hijacked a car in Pretoria and were tracked to Lenasia by the tracking company and police.

“Police gave chase and the suspects tried to run away and then there was a shootout between the police and the suspects. One suspect was shot and wounded, the other one was arrested. So the one who’s wounded is currently in hospital under police guard.”

Mngomezulu says the suspects will appear in the Protea Magistrates Court facing charges of possession of stolen motor vehicles.

He says police are searching for the third suspect.
