A man and his grandchild have burnt to death after he set his car on fire in Azaadville, west of Johannesburg.
The police’s Kay Makhubela said the little boy was left in the care of a domestic worker and the grandfather when the parents left for work this morning.
“When he was at work he got a call from the father in law that he has taken his son and that he is going to kill him and also kill himself.
Makhubela said the father of the boy contacted the police who started looking for the car
Community members later spotted a car on fire, but failed to extinguish the flames in time.
“When police spotted the car it was already on fire. Both were burnt beyond recognition.
Makhubela said the motive is not yet known and police are investigating an inquest docket.
