Court Denies Bail to Lenasia Counterfeiting Suspect

February 03, 2015

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News, 2015-02-03

A Lenasia man charged with the production and possession of counterfeit money has been denied bail.

36-year-old Tegwin Zeth Deacon and his alleged accomplice, 24-year-old Storm Britz, were caught with R14,000 worth of printed money in Lenasia, south of Johannesburg  last month.

The pair allegedly used the fake cash to buy electronic goods from unsuspecting victims.

In her ruling, the magistrate stated Deacon was a danger to both the economy and community, that there was nothing that would bind him to a geographical area and if released on bail, there was a possibility of him evading trial. – EWN
