A 64 year old man has been found dead at his home in Milkwood Street in Lenasia South, South of Johannesburg.

Bitharam ‘Harry’ Mathadin’s body was found by police at his home after they were informed the elderly man was neither seen nor heard from since November 25.

Details remain sketchy, but it’s believed Mathadin was found face down in the living room with blood spattered around him.

A source told Radio Islam, Mathadin was allegedly struck with an unknown object at the back of the head.

The source also told Radio Islam the motive could’ve been robbery as Mathadin’s car, a black Volkswagen Polo and his mobile phone, a Samsung S4 is alleged to be missing.

“He was supposed to have visited me in Boksburg but he never came. I didn’t find it strange because I thought he had other plans. It was shocking when I got a phone call saying something had happened to him,” Mathadin’s only nephew Rakesh Deeplal told the Rising Sun.

Harry, as he was fondly known in the neighborhood, was a business man and lived alone in his Milkwood home for many years. He was described by neighbours as a quiet and respectful man who kept to himself.

The police are investigating.

A spate of murders has gripped the Lenasia, Lenasia South suburbs in recent weeks.

On Monday, 64 year old Indira Govan from Albatross Street in Lenasia Extension 1 was bludgeoned to death with a hammer.
