Another Brutal Murder in Lenasia

November 26, 2013

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News, 2013-11-26

Another gruesome murder has taken place in Lenasia, South of Johannesburg.

64 year old Indira Govan from Albatross Street in Lenasia Extension 1 was bludgeoned to death with a hammer at about 8pm last night.

According to the next door neighbor, they smelt the food burning at Govan’s house and heard the screams of Govan crying out “I am dying, I am dying”.

The neighbor told Radio Islam that they immediately jumped over the wall to investigate and phoned the police who arrived within 30 minutes. In the interim, Govan's son in law Raskesh was also contacted and found the body of Govan.

The murder weapon was found lying on floor beside Govan.

According to Govan’s other son in law Yatish Dullabh, the maid and the gardener are alleged to have taken the keys and gained entry into Govan’s home.

The duo allegedly ransacked the home before savagely murdering the elderly woman.

The neigbour also told Radio Islam that they have been living in the neighbourhood for 45 years and this is the first time they experienced such an incident.

Captain Hector Netshivodza from the Lenasia Police Station said he could not comment on the murder until an investigation is done.

The suspects are still at large.
