The family of a Vaal Muslim businessman Rashid Ali who has been apparently kidnapped in Pakistan appealed to the international relations department to help them find him.
Ali was reportedly on his way to Lahore airport to board a plane back to South Africa on Tuesday with his mother, Irshad Bibi. They stopped at a police picket at Sagian Bridge when four armed men approached him and forced him into a white, double-cab bakkie.
Ali, who is also chairperson for the African National Congress (ANC) in Meyerton and a former resident in Toba Tak Singh in Pakistan, was visiting his family when the incident transpired.
His wife Emel Ali was quoted as saying: “They (the kidnappers) didn’t tell us what they want.”
“They just took him. Can anybody help me in South Africa that I can go there and find my husband?” said Emel.
International relations could not be reached for comment.
