In the aftermath of the horrific bombings of the Boston Marathon that left 3 people dead and 144 others injured, a United States Imam has offered assistance and counseling to Boston Marathon victims.
Imam Suhaib Webb and the Islamic Society of Boston Cultural Center (ISBCC) have offered to provide extensive aid to any of the marathon runners or staff, including an emergency shelter.
The ISBCC has organized 40 volunteers to donate blood and provide onsite disaster relief assistance. The center is also offering spiritual counselling
Yusuf Vali, the organization's executive director said “we're absolutely horrified by what's happened today in Boston, and as Bostonians we feel a responsibility to serve our community."
"We're willing to transform our center into a disaster relief shelter for anyone that needs it,” added Vali.
Founded in 2009, ISBCC is the largest Islamic center in New England and the second largest on the East Coast.
