The police’s Kay Makhubela said Patel was who on his way to deposit money was dropped off outside the FNB bank in the Lenasia CBD when he was accosted by three armed men.

“They pointed the firearm at him, robbed him of an undisclosed amount of money and got into a white 4 x 4 bakkie and fled the scene,” said Makhubela.

“Before they drove off, they shot randomly around the area but no one was injured.”

“Bhana from Bilal Centre saw what was happening and told his security guard who opened fire on the armed robbers,” Patel told Radio Islam.

“I saw the gun pointed at me, I was traumatized, but Allah saved me,” said Patel.

Makhubela said they are calling on anyone who might have information to call the 08600 10111 number or use the 32211 SMS number to inform them so they can trace the suspects and arrest them.
