Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News – 2012-11-30

The death of two sisters in Mayfair West has left the community reeling in shock. The bodies of Dildar and Noorjahaan Karim who were in their fifties and sixties were discovered by their aunt Afsari and neigbours on Thursday evening at 7pm.

Shaheda who lives next door to Dildar and Noorjahaan said the house was broken into at 3am. She said a colleague of Noorjahaan’s became worried when she never reported for work.  After contacting Noorjahaan's other sister who resides in Lenasia, the sister asked Aswari to investigate.

When Afsari arrived at the home in St. Just Avenue Mayfair West, she discovered the gates and doors of the home  were unlocked. Afsari heard faint cries of help from within the home.

When Afsari entered the home with her husband and neigbours, a gruesome sight awaited them. Dildar and Noorjahaan lay face down on the bed, hands and feet tied. They suffocated to death after their mouths were stuffed to keep them from screaming. Their brother Liaqat was on the floor also tied up. He managed to dispel the stuffing in his mouth and scream for help.

According to Shaheda the house was a mess. She said a television set was found in the car that was parked in the garage ready to make a getaway.

“The neigbourhood watch and police were within minutes on the scene,” added Shaheda. Police are investigating.
