Clashes between Bangladeshi security forces and demonstrators have raged in the area of Motigheel in city of Dhaka where an alleged massacre of more than 3500 Ulama has taken place.
A senior Mufti of Hathazari Madrassah in Bangladesh (largest institute in Bangladesh) has confirmed that over 3500 Ulama and Talabaa (students of religion) have allegedly been mercilessly martyred.
Police have been raiding madaaris since 3am Bangladeshi time. Firing was opened on an area where the Ulama and Talaba were spending the night. All electricity is cut off and all media is blocked.
A source close to Radio Islam said “It's completely shut down. Our people are saying that they used helicopters to shoot the students and Ulama’s. There is no confirmed figure at the moment of how many are dead as the army is taking away the dead bodies and clearing the streets.”
It also been reported that the alleged massacring of the students and Ulama is spreading to institutes and madaaris in central Dhaka.
The protest in Dhaka was called by Moulana Shafi Saheb who is student of Hadhrat Madani and principal of Hathazari. It revolves around the anti-blasphemy laws and matters relating to shariah (Islamic law).
