anyone can say what's wrong
but few really know what's right
it's easier to say no
than commit your whole life
& there's a hypocrite born every minute
commentators need to stop hatin
& be their own critics
i've never been one to lay back
& watch the world spin
t.v. remotely controls the souls
stuck outside lookin in
i shut the screen off & checked the mirror
i saw somebody i hated & waited
but he refused to disappear
went to the window & watched the world dying
one raindrop fell to match each of the tears
that the world's youth are crying
every drop was a gem
worth more than diamonds-
go walk a desert mile in my shoes;
tell me which would you be buyin?-
some die in droughts,
& some spend millions
on old watercolor paintings
if they could they would buy the sunrise
but they have nowhere to hang it
while stomachs starve,
people throw food away
after counting the calories
they look the picture of health
their heart's diseased
chains are taken off of wrists
dipped in gold
& placed on necks
slaves used to buy their own freedom
now free men sell their souls for respect,
expect less with regrets
do you remember where you were
on the day the sun rose from the west?
