80-Year-Old Woman Strangled to Death in Lenasia

February 27, 2016

Faizel Patel, Radio Islam News, 2016-02-27

An 80-year-old woman has been strangled to death at her home in Lenasia, south of Johannesburg.

It’s understood the elderly woman was last seen walking home from her sister’s house in extension 3 yesterday with a man believed to be known to her.

Her body was discovered by family members this afternoon with a scarf around her neck and wrapped in a blanket.

The police’s Vincent Mashiteng says nothing seemed to have been taken from the house and there were no signs of forced entry.

“We are investigating a case of murder after an 80-year-old woman was found murdered. Her arms were tied and her legs were also tied and she was found lying faced down. At this stage no one has been arrested, the investigation is continuing.”

Mashiteng has appealed to anyone with information to come forward and assist the police in their case.
