As many as 7000 carpets will be rolled out at the Prophet’s (Peace Be Upon Him) mosque, in Madinah, from Thursday. The carpets will be laid at the expansions and courtyards of the mosque. The Saudi Gazette reports that the move is in accordance with the instructions of Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, who heads the Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques.
The spreading out of the carpets will be done from the Fajr (morning) prayer on Friday. The Saudi Gazette reports that the carpets are to be rolled out strictly in compliance with the corona virus precautionary measures, ensuring there will be a physical distance between worshippers. There will be a distance of 180 cm between worshippers on each carpet, with three worshippers to a carpet.
